Clinton wins Pennsylvania

Sen. Hillary Clinton claimed victory in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, beating out Sen. Barack Obama after a bruising six-week campaign.

According to CNN reports issued just after 9pm, Senator Hillary Clinton has been projected to have won the Pennsylvania primary with 53% of the vote with Senator Barack Obama had around 47%. The results are still not official.

According to reports by Wolf Blitzer on the network, Clinton won the more conservative working class vote in the rural areas of Keystone state, while Senator Barack Obama won urban votes in such areas as Philadelphia.

The primary was hotly contested and with large amounts of funds being spent on television advertisements. According to one news report, over 11,000 television spots ran on Pennsylvania stations in recent weeks.

As Clinton wins the Pennsylvania delegates, the North Carolina primary on May 6th becomes even more important.

Former President Bill Clinton will be campaigning on behalf of his wife in the Triangle on Wednesday.

President Clinton will be attending a “Solutions for America” Event at 1:45pm at the Orange County Baseball Field at the corner of N. Hassell Street & W. Queen Street in Hillsborough.

The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to an event in Hillsborough, President Clinton will also be speaking at other events in Elon College, Asheboro, Thomasville, and Statesville.

Senator Hillary Clinton will be speaking again in North Carolina on Thursday in Jacksonville, North Carolina as well as Fayetteville and Asheville.
